Prioritizing the Sabbath over making a profit.- Inspired by May

“If you keep your feet from breaking the Sabbath and from doing as you please on my holy day, if you call the Sabbath a delight and the Lord’s holy day honorable, and if you honor it by not going your own way and not doing as you please or speaking idle words," - Isaiah 58:13

Story of Transformation January 14, 2025

May is a Chinese immigrant who embraced her passion for cooking by starting a restaurant business in America. Now, she successfully runs three restaurants that offer authentic dishes from her home country. During her journey, she encountered an evangelist who enlightened her about the Sabbath as described in the Bible, deepening her understanding of her faith.

He firmly believes that the commandment to rest on the Sabbath is still relevant today. Consequently, he has decided to close his business on that day. This decision, made on a day when he typically saw more customers than any other, will inevitably affect his workers’ wages as well as his own profits from that day.

When she decided to stop working on the holy day, the devil threw many obstacles in her way. However, May firmly believed that obedience to God was paramount. Gradually, her three restaurants began to turn a significant profit. Today, she can confidently say that her business brings in more income than when she was working every single day, even including the Sabbath!

“If you keep your feet from breaking the Sabbath and from doing as you please on my holy day, if you call the Sabbath a delight and the Lord’s holy day honorable, and if you honor it by not going your own way and not doing as you please or speaking idle words, 14 then you will find your joy in the Lord, and I will cause you to ride in triumph on the heights of the land and to feast on the inheritance of your father Jacob.” For the mouth of the Lord has spoken”
