Archaeological discoveries in the Middle East reveal significant connections with biblical ideas. The ancient city of Jericho, known as Tell es-Sultan in the West Bank, Palestine, has remnants of its stone walls that were largely destroyed. However, a small section of the standing wall remains in the ruins, suggesting important insights into the story of Rahab and its implications.

In the 1950s, British archaeologist Kathleen Mary Kenyon conducted significant research on the ruins of the ancient city of Jericho and concluded that there was no evidence supporting the destruction described in the book of Joshua. However, subsequent investigations have unequivocally demonstrated that Kenyon’s conclusions were incorrect. Later studies revealed that the walls of Jericho were indeed found among the remains of the ancient city, providing compelling evidence that supports the biblical account of Jericho’s fate, including the story of Rahab.

Rahab is indeed part of the lineage of Jesus, having married Salmon. This positions them firmly in the fourth generation of King David, as stated in verses 1:5-6 of Matthew.

In a world where many question the truths presented in the Bible, it is essential to strengthen our faith in its authenticity. Numerous biblical stories align with archaeological findings from ancient cities, including the accounts of Jericho and Rahab. These discoveries demonstrate that the narratives found in the Bible are grounded in reality, proving that they are not merely legends or fictional tales.

Joshua said to the two men who had spied out the land, “Go into the prostitute’s house and bring her out and all who belong to her, in accordance with your oath to her.” 23 So the young men who had done the spying went in and brought out Rahab, her father and mother, her brothers and sisters and all who belonged to her. They brought out her entire family and put them in a place outside the camp of Israel
