Adventist Youth Ministries

The Bible provides a foundation for Spiritual mentoring for young people. Within the family and community of faith, young people are seen to receive a solid framework for fostering personal growth and nurturing a strong spiritual connection. The reserves of the stories, teachings, and wisdom offer valuable guidance and principles for cultivating a deeper understanding of faith and spirituality in youth (Deut 6:4-9, Prov 22:26).

The World church is blessed to have an army of youth today who can do much on the condition that the church gives them direction and encouragement. The church expects her children to believe the truth; receive the blessing of God; we earnestly desire that they contribute to a well-organized plan that will translate to assisting other youths

Ellen G. White, The Australian years:1891-1900, 1892 4:18

To succeed, the church opted to work for and with its youth through the Adventist Youth Society (AYS).Under it, youth are to work together in the development of a strong youth ministry that includes the spiritual, mental, and physical development of each individual. The goal of AYS is to involve all youth in activities that will tie them closer to the church and train them for Christian service. (Seventh-day Adventist church manual, 2010, p100-101). The approach is to set up different clubs based on the kids’ age range

  • Young adults (ages 22–30 years old)
  • Ambassadors (16–21 years old)
  • Pathfinders (10–15 years old)
  • Adventurers (4–9 years old)

The Department has established nine zones—Ndorwa, Mucaca, Kibali, Nkuri, Rushashi, Kinigi, Bugarura, Bukamba, and Kigombe—that will be overseen by experienced Master Guides, in an effort to establish stronger connections with the younger generation. In the areas they supervise, they will also serve as the counselor of Adventist Youth initiatives.

Nonetheless, we applaud the department’s collective efforts since the North Rwanda Association was founded in 1956. Building churches, schools, and District church pastors’ houses, visiting patients in clinics and hospitals, establishing clubs within the local churches, conducting evangelistic campaigns, and offering a variety of training programs are just a few examples of the deeds that bear witness to the generosity of young Adventists and their leaders.
